Overview
The PriceBook Bulk Update lets you adjust costs and prices across multiple items at once, without editing them one by one. You can increase or decrease values by a fixed dollar amount or a percentage, and apply changes to a specific selection of items, all items of a given type, or your entire PriceBook.
This is especially useful when your supplier costs change, when you want to apply an across-the-board price increase, or when you're setting up a new season's pricing.
When to Use This Feature
Your material costs have gone up and you need to update all material items quickly.
You want to raise prices across a specific service type (e.g., all hourly labor items) by a set percentage.
You're reviewing margins and need to adjust cost or price independently without changing both.
You want to apply a seasonal price adjustment to your entire PriceBook in one step.
How to Bulk Update PriceBook Items
Go to Business Settings by clicking the gear icon in the top right corner.
Select PriceBook from the left-hand menu.
To update specific items, check the box next to each item you want to include. To update all items of a type or your entire PriceBook, no individual selection is needed — you'll choose the scope in the next step.
Click the Bulk Update button. A modal will appear with the following options.
Set the direction: Increase or Decrease.
Choose which field to update:
Cost only
Price only
Both Cost and Price
Choose your adjustment method:
Fixed amount — enter a dollar value to add or subtract.
Percentage — enter a percentage to increase or decrease by.
Optionally, enable Round to nearest whole number to avoid decimal prices on updated items.
Click Apply to confirm. You will see a confirmation modal of the summary and how many PriceBook items will be updated. The update will be applied immediately to all items in the selected scope.
Tips and Best Practices
Update cost and price separately if you need different adjustment amounts for each — run the bulk update twice, once for Cost and once for Price.
Use the rounding option when adjusting prices customer-facing items — whole numbers look cleaner on proposals and invoices.
Narrow your scope before applying. Selecting a specific item type (e.g., Material) is safer than updating the entire PriceBook when only one category has changed.
Review a sample of items after applying to confirm the adjustment looks correct before sending any new invoices or proposals.
Things to Know
Only users with permission to edit PriceBook items and access Business Settings can access the PriceBook and perform the Bulk Update. If the option isn't visible, ask your account owner to review your role settings.
Bulk updates are applied immediately and cannot be undone automatically — double-check your settings before clicking Apply.
The rounding option applies to the final adjusted value, not the original. A $14.60 item increased by 10% becomes $16.06, or $16 with rounding enabled.
Existing invoices and proposals already sent to customers are not affected — only items in the PriceBook are updated.
Troubleshooting
I don't see the Bulk Update button.
Your user role may not include PriceBook edit permissions. Contact your account owner to check your access level.
I updated the wrong items by mistake.
Bulk updates can't be reversed automatically. You'll need to run another bulk update to undo the change (e.g., if you increased by 10%, decrease by ~9.09% to return to the original), or manually correct the affected items.
