Checklists

Checklists in MotionOps bring structure and consistency to every job. They ensure nothing gets overlooked, improve communication between the office and the field, and provide real-time visibility into job status so teams stay aligned from start to finish.

Checklists are quality control and task completion forms that technicians can complete during appointments and work orders. They help teams stay organized, ensure important tasks are completed, and create consistency across jobs and services.

Checklist templates can be created ahead of time and attached to work orders automatically or manually depending on the workflow your company uses. They are commonly used for inspections, service procedures, installation steps, safety checks, and job completion verification.

Creating Checklist Templates

To create a checklist template:

  1. Go to Settings β†’ Checklists

  2. Click New Checklist

  3. Add the checklist name and checklist items

  4. Save the template

If no checklists currently exist yet, select Create New Checklist Template from the empty checklist page.

Templates allow teams to standardize common processes so technicians are following the same steps across every job.

Adding Checklists to Work Orders

Checklists can also be added directly to individual work orders as needed.

From the Overview section of a work order, users can:

  • Attach an existing checklist template

  • Create a brand new checklist specifically for that work order

  • Assign checklists to team members

  • Edit or update checklist details

  • Track checklist progress during the job

This allows teams to fully customize checklists based on the work being performed or the customer requirements for that specific appointment.

Using Checklists on the Mobile App

On the mobile app, team members can open any checklist assigned to them directly from the work order. As tasks are completed, they can mark checklist items off in real time while working in the field.

This helps improve:

  • Quality control

  • Team accountability

  • Job consistency

  • Task tracking

  • Service verification

Using checklists helps ensure technicians complete required tasks before closing out appointments or work orders.
