Clone a Proposal

Save time by duplicating an existing proposal — all line items, pricing, and settings carry over to a new draft in seconds.

Written by Nick Stanisavljevic

Overview

The Clone Proposal feature lets you duplicate any existing proposal in seconds. All the details — line items, pricing, taxes, discounts, description, and agreement template — are copied into a brand-new draft, ready for you to review and send.

This is especially useful when you do similar jobs repeatedly and don't want to rebuild a proposal from scratch every time. You can clone a proposal for the same customer or redirect it to a different account and service location before confirming.

Cloning is available on both the Web App and the Mobile App.

When to Use This Feature

  • You do recurring jobs for the same customer and want to reuse a previous proposal as a starting point.

  • You have a standard service package and want to send a similar proposal to a new customer.

  • A customer approved a proposal and you want to create a similar one for a different property or location.

  • You want to use a past proposal as a template without altering the original.

How to Clone a Proposal — Web App

  1. Open the proposal you want to clone. You can find proposals under Work Orders or through the customer's account page.

  2. On the proposal preview page, click the actions menu (the three-dot menu or options button in the top-right area).

  3. Select Clone Proposal from the menu. A confirmation dialog will appear.

  4. In the dialog, review or change the Account and Service Location for the new proposal.

    • By default, both fields are pre-filled with the original proposal's account and service location.

    • If the selected account only has one service location, it will be auto-selected for you.

    • If there are multiple service locations, select the correct one from the dropdown.

  5. Click Clone to confirm. You'll see a loading indicator while the new proposal is being created.

  6. Once complete, you'll be taken directly to the new proposal's edit page. A confirmation message — "Proposal successfully cloned." — will appear at the top of the screen.

You can also clone a proposal from inside a Work Order. Open the Work Order, go to the More Actions menu, and select Clone Proposal. The same dialog will appear.

How to Clone a Proposal — Mobile App

  1. Open the proposal you want to clone from the Work section or from the customer's account page.

  2. On the proposal preview screen, tap the actions menu (three-dot icon).

  3. Tap Clone Proposal. A confirmation screen will appear.

  4. Select the Account and Service Location for the cloned proposal.

    • If the account has only one service location, it will be selected automatically.

    • If there are multiple, choose the right one manually.

  5. Tap Confirm. The app will create the new proposal and open it in edit mode as a draft.

What Gets Copied

The cloned proposal includes all of the following from the original:

  • Proposal title (prefixed with "Copy of" — e.g., "Copy of Project for Johnson House")

  • Proposal type and material type

  • Description

  • All line items — labor, materials, quantities, and prices

  • Line item titles/sections

  • Tax rate and discount

  • Preview settings

  • Agreement template (without any existing signatures)

Tips & Best Practices

  • Review the title before sending. The cloned proposal opens with a "Copy of" prefix — update the title before sending it to a customer.

  • Check your line item prices. If your costs have changed since the original proposal, update them on the new draft before sending.

  • Use cloning for seasonal or recurring work. If you do the same job every year (e.g., annual maintenance), clone last year's proposal as a starting point.

  • Change the account or service location as needed. Cloning isn't limited to the same customer — use it to send a similar proposal to a different client.

Things to Know

  • The cloned proposal always starts as a Draft. It will not be sent to the customer until you review and send it manually.

  • Attachments are not copied over by default. If you need to include files from the original proposal, add them manually to the new draft.

  • Any signatures from the original proposal are not carried over to the clone.

  • Dates such as sent date and accepted date are reset — the new proposal starts clean.

  • You need permission to create proposals in order to use this feature. If you don't see the Clone option, contact your account admin to check your permissions.

Troubleshooting

I don't see the "Clone Proposal" option.
This action is only visible if you have permission to create proposals. Contact your account admin to verify your access level.

The service location dropdown is empty after selecting an account.
This means no service locations have been added to that account yet. Go to the customer's account page and add a service location before cloning.

I got an error when trying to clone.
Try refreshing the page and attempting again. If the issue persists, reach out to our support team via the chat icon in the bottom right corner.
